"ENVISION SUCCESS" PROGRAM
October 23 - December 11, 2021
11:30 am - 12:45 pm
FREE STEAM class through October 15th
Independent, motivated Achievers have the chance to explore topics of interest in-depth and with the support of an expert instructor. Course activities develop critical and creative thinking as students engage with content that inspires excitement and furthers interest in the field.
WHARTON BUSINESS HIGH SCHOOL ESSENTIALS OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP
We are proud to partner with Knowledge@Wharton High School (KWHS) a service of the internationally renowned University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Through this rigorous and challenging curriculum, Achievers will learn about the business world and develop the skills necessary for success in the future.
The Wharton School has had a long reputation for cultivating tomorrow’s business leaders. With a session schedule filled with lectures, recitations, and activities, students will walk away with a better understanding of how to design a creative and useful product from scratch and what it takes to truly be an entrepreneur.
The Essentials of Entrepreneurship students:
The aim is to center business concepts around real issues applying solutions using STEAM and design thinking concepts under the umbrella of entrepreneurship.
From money values to cryptocurrency, 6th through 12th graders will explore all of the essential personal finance topics necessary to become a financially capable student. Topics include:
FORTNITE TOURNAMENT COACHING
National Esports Professional Championship Coaches teach how to improve reactions, APM, aim training, and awareness while learning about champion matchups, and best tactics with specific champions including refinement of team play tactics and callouts, working on strats, map control, and punishing your opponent for their mistakes.
LEAGUE OF LEGENDS TOURNAMENT COACHING
National Esports Professional Championship Coaches teach how to acquire new skills and refine current ones, develop game strategies, conduct in-play, and post-play analysis, how to manage game settings, and promote teamwork and precise communication
THE INTERNET OF THINGS: DESIGNING SMART DEVICES
From thermostats to driverless vehicles to children’s toys, virtually any physical object can be transformed into an IoT device if one has the right technology. In this project-based class, learn how to capture information wirelessly with electrical devices, process that information using software on a microcontroller, and then communicate the data to a web page that uses simple HTML to display results. Additionally, explore the cloud, what information is sent there, and its related applications and technologies.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR ROBOT (AI & ML) BY MIT
It's estimated that by 2022, there will be 58 million new jobs in the area of artificial intelligence. That's why the youth of today must be both conscientious consumers and designers of AI.
The Learnatory has partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to offer "How to Train Your Robot" which explores artificial intelligence, machine learning, and ethics. Students participate in a range of hot-topic discussions and hands-on, creative activities to learn about how artificial intelligence (AI) is impacting society today. This course seeks to teach technical concepts—such as how to train a simple classifier—and the ethical implications those technical concepts entail, such as algorithmic bias. They design robot companions to solve real-world problems and use machine learning (ML) to make them intelligent. At the end of the session, there is a showcase where students can share their inventions with their friends, families, and the public.
INTRO TO PYTHON CODING
Introduction to Python is geared toward kids 12 and older. Kids start by learning about coding fundamentals such as variables, loops, and if/then statements. From there, they progress to working with graphics and eventually to building games. Students work through challenges and exercises, many of which are modeled after simple real-world problems that professional coders have to solve.
YOU'RE JUST A BALL OF ENERGY!
Did you know that everything - even you - is just energy? All matter and psychological processes — thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and attitudes — are composed of energy. When applied to the human body, every atom, molecule, cell, tissue, and body system is composed of energy that when superimposed on each other create what is known as the human energy field. (That's also part of "The Secret"!) Come explore!
Thsi course teaches the basic ideas of quantum mechanics with a method that requires no complicated math beyond taking square roots (and you can use a calculator for that). Quantum theory is taught without “dumbing down” any of the material, giving you the same version experts use in current research. We will cover the quantum mystery of the two-slit experiment and advanced topics that include how to see something without shining light on it (quantum seeing in the dark) and bunching effects of photons (Hong-Ou-Mandel effect).
Master the art of storytelling, combining thoughtful writing with self-produced digital media to tell the stories that matter to you. Improve your writing skills as you learn to craft compelling fiction and nonfiction narratives, bringing them to life with graphics, audio, video, and photos. Discover strategies to engage your audience as you create, edit, and share your work in collaboration with peers.
GAME DESIGN WITH UNITY AND C#
Game Lovers and Creators Unite with Unity 3D! Learn to control and create games and even apps with this pro software. You will get an introduction to C# (C-sharp), Unity’s programming language, as you code your creations to do what you want in your 3D worlds! You will build up to 5 simple fun games with Unity!
